•  The Beehive hair salon, 102 E. Weaver St., Carrboro, will hold its fourth annual Halloween at the Hive fundraising effort from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 to help Paws4Ever in its mission to help animals find a permanent home.

Salon staff will provide Halloween hair, makeup and face painting to complement your costume. Suggested donations are $5 for children and $10 for adults.

•  The 2012 Chatham Hunger Walk will be held beginning at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 4, starting at Pittsboro Elementary School in Pittsboro.

The event will feature live music and food trucks in addition to the walk.

Proceeds benefit the CORA food pantry to feed families in crisis and hardship throughout Chatham County.

•  Registration is open for the Burwell School Historic Site’s 3rd Annual 5K Run for History.

The run will be held on Nov. 10, starting and finishing at the Burwell School, 319 N. Churton St, Hillsborough.

Proceeds benefit the Burwell School Historic Site’s facilities and programs.

•  The ninth annal Southern VIllage 5K and Family Fun Run will be held Nov. 11 at Southern Village to benefit the Chapel Hill Service League.

The 5K will be held at 2 p.m., and the Family Fun Run will be begin at 3:30 p.m. Children’s activities will go on from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The Mental Health Association of the Triangle will hold its inaugural Golf Outing at the Chapel Hill County Club on Oct. 29.

The event will be a captain’s choice format with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Mental Health Association of the Trianlge, which provides free community-based services in Orange County to individuals and families living with mental health conditions.
