Name: TJ Johnson

The Chapel Hill High School senior is in his fourth year as varsity quarterback for the Tigers, leading them to the playoffs for the second straight time and the third time in four years.

Class: 2013

Ht/Wt.: 6-3, 235 pounds

Grades: a solid ’B’

Favorite subject in school: History

Hardest subject: Math

College choice: Undecided but “I’ll make a decision in December. A Division II school is possible if I think I can make a real contribution there.”

Other sports: In his fourth year of varsity football, the 6-3, 234-pound Johnson also has played every year so far with the CHHS basketball team as a powerful inside presence. “I’ve always liked basketball, but football has turned into my love.”

Favorite movie: “Titanic”

Favorite book: “Through My Eyes: A Quarterback’s Journey” — by Tim Tebow, with Nathan Whitaker.

Favorite TV: ESPN. “Anything on ESPN — straight up.”

Favorite video game: NBA 2K ’13

Last thing on my radio: “Over My Dead Body” by Drake

Football has taught me: “The spotlight is always on a quarterback, but football is a team sport. You have to have a team around you, and in life you need to have good people with you to be successful.”

Childhood memory: “The first time I played football in my backyard. I was 7 years old. We were playing against the big boys — teenagers — and scored three times. That’s the first time I knew I could play football.”

Biggest athletic thrill: “Senior Night” against Southern Vance in 2011, throwing a game-winning pass to Stephen Winsor with zero time left on the clock.

Most people don’t know: “I’ve been at least 200 pounds since fourth grade.”

Pregame ritual: “I always listen to Enya.”

Words to live by: “I’ve been looking or my father all my life, and then I realized I was just looking for myself and trying to become the man he never was.”
