DSI Comedy Theater in Carrboro launched a new free standup comedy series on Nov. 3, and will continue offering the free shows at 10:30 p.m. every Saturday indefinitely.

Each Saturday, the Pork! series will present five top North Carolina comics onstage. Audiences who pay for the 9 p.m. improv show will be able to stay and keep their seats for the 10:30 show. Others can start lining up at 9:30 p.m. for the free showcase.

The series opened Nov. 3 with headliner Jenny Chalikian.

The schedule for the rest of February:

• Nov. 10: Headliner Stephen Scott, with Ryan Brown, Brittany Spruill, Rongqin Ren and Brian Burns. Host is Grethen McNeely.

•  Nov. 17: Headliner: Jonathan Su, with Julia McClung, Rongqin Ren, John Sideris, Jenny Chalikian and Kenneth Mclauren. Host is Brian Burns.

• Nov. 24: Headliner Matt White, with Michelle Maclay, Caroline Monday, Kyle Rainey and Adam Cohen. Host is John Sideris.

DSI hosts the successful annual North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, and has presented comics including Louis CK, Eddie Brill, Mike MacRae, Emo Phillips and Mike Birbiglia.
