Veterans Day 5K Fun Run and One-Mile Walk

Carolina Campus Recreation will hold a 5K fun run and one-mile walk at 10 a.m. at the Rams Head Plaza. Registration begins at 9 a.m. There will be refreshments, prizes and giveaways. Proceeds will benefit the Durham Rescue Mission. Bring canned goods or nonperishable food items to donate.

Southern Village 5K and Family Fun Run

The ninth annual Southern Village 5K and Family Fun Run will begin at 2 p.m. at 400 Market Street, Suite 115. The family fun run will begin at 3:30 p.m. Registration is from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Cost is $30 for the 5K and $10 for the family fun run. Proceeds will benefit the Chapel Hill Service League. sv5k.com.

Yoga Class

A yoga class for people new to yoga, in treatment for cancer, a caregiver or cancer survivor, is held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. by the UNC Comprehensive Cancer Support Program at Carolina Pointe II, 6011 Farrington Road. Cost is $5 per session. unclineberger.org.

Veterans Day Ceremony

The annual Veterans Day ceremony will be at 11 a.m. at Hill Hall, 145 E. Cameron Ave., at UNC-Chapel Hill. Veterans will be asked to stand and be recognized as the conflict in which they served is named.

Breastfeeding Group

Breastfeeding Cafe, an informal drop-in gathering of breastfeeding moms, is held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Red Hen, University Mall, 201 South Estes Drive.

Restorative Yoga

Cornucopia House Cancer Support Center, 5517 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd., offers a free Restorative Yoga class for anyone affected by cancer from 3 to 4:30 p.m. 919-401-9333.

November’s Meet the Author Tea will be from 4 to 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Deep Dish Theater in the University Mall. Refreshments will be at 3:30 p.m. The authors of “Goodnight Carolina,” Missy Julian Fox, Marie Myers Lloyd and Elaine O’Neil will be the guest speakers.

Lecture Event

Temuri Yakobashvili, ambassador of Georgia to the United States, will discuss his country’s role in world politics during a lecture titled, “Georgia in World Affairs: Partnerships and Foreign Policy Priorities” at 5:30 p.m. in the Pleasants Family Assembly Room in the Wilson Library at UNC-Chapel Hill. After the lecture, Yakobashvili will participate in a roundtable discussion with UNC-Chapel Hill faculty members.

Canine Playtime
