•  Peter Thorn of Peter Thorn Builders in Chapel Hill, has completed the 72 hours of course work for the Accredited Builder designation. Thorn is a member of the HBA of Durham, Orange and Chatham Counties.

•  The Disability Awareness Council celebrated 22 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act’s progress by honoring people of achievement and contribution. This year’s honorees were Darice Johnson, Transportation Award; LC Industries, Employer of the Year; Yusheng Zhang, East Chapel Hill School, Junior Volunteer Award; and U.S. Rep. David Price, Housing Access Award.

•  Sarah DeGennaro has been named executive director for The Alliance for Historic Hillsborough. She’s been acting director since September 2011.
