CHAPEL HILL - The N.C. Governor’s Office posted a $10,000 reward Wednesday for information about the death of a UNC-Chapel Hill student, police reported.

Chapel Hill police have said Faith Danielle Hedgepeth’s Sept. 7 death in her apartment at Hawthorne at the View was a homicide, but have not said how she died or identified possible suspects.

Gov. Bev Perdue’s office added $10,000 to the reward for information leading to her killer’s arrest and conviction. The money brings the total reward offered in the case to $39,000.

The remaining reward money includes up to $2,000 from the Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers program; $1,000 each from the Haliwa-Saponi Tribe to which Hedgepeth belonged and Hawthorne at the View Apartments; and $25,000 in personal money from the UNC-CH Board of Trustees.

Chapel Hill Police ask anyone with information about Hedgepeth’s death to call the department’s tip line at 919-614-6363 or the Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515. Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential.
