Most Popular

Name: Catherine Romaine

School/Class: Chapel Hill High School, Class of 2014

Sports: Volleyball & Basketball

GPA: 4.58

Height: 6 feet, 1 inch. (People insist she plays taller than that.)

Course load: AP Biology, Honors Biology Lab, Honors English Arts Focus, Honors Spanish 4, AP Calculus BC, AP Comparative Government

College Choice: My dream school would be a college in the South with strong academics and a good sports program where I could play basketball.

Hardest subject: Calculus

Favorite subject: History

Biggest athletic thri ll: My biggest athletic thrill was winning the Carolina Conference championship against Northern Vance last year in basketball. We won the championship game in our home gym, which was completely packed and so loud we couldn’t even hear each other talk on the floor. That was by far the most fun I’ve ever had playing a sport.

Best place to play. Chapel Hill High School’s gym. There’s no comparison!

Favorite book: Harry Potter series

Favorite TV Show: Grey’s Anatomy

On my iPod right now: Country music. That’s the only music I listen to, even before a big game. It keeps me calm and focused.

If I could visit anywhere in the world it would be: Ethiopia. We adopted my brother from Ethiopia about five years ago and I would love to go back someday. It’s such an interesting place.

Inspiration: My teammates. They inspire me to work hard every day.

Sherry Norris, CHHS basketball and volleyball coach, says: “Catherine is a tremendous athlete; she had good size and good footwoprk and good quickness. She has athletic ability, but she also works hard. She never makes excuses. She leads on the court and in practice because of her work ethic.”
