David Phillips, 66, of Pittsboro, died in his home Thursday morning, November 22, 2012. He was born in Cleveland, OH, a son to the late Paul J. Phillips & Margaret Slamink. Dave’s remaining family includes his wife, Susan Phillips, of the home; his sons, Moore Phillips, of the home; Joseph Phillips & wife, Jessica of Gibsonia, PA; his daughter, Tamara Phillips, of Kettering, OH; his sisters, Paula Leigh & husband, Kevin, of Parma, OH; Barbara Nichols of Alpine, CA; his grandchildren, Nicolina and Domenic; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his extended southern family and friends .Shortly after Dave’s 18th birthday, he enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps. From basic training, Dave was sent into combat in Vietnam. He honorably served our nation earning four medals before coming home. Dave’s career in various Human Resource positions, would locate him to Ohio, Virginia, Alabama, and ultimately settle in NC. With the heart of an explorer, Dave and family traveled the world diving the wrecks & reefs of Hawaii, Costa Rica, & the Caribbean. When home, Dave’s leisure time was filled with caring for the yard, pool and big boy toys. He enjoyed riding motorcycles &taking family trips. He was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America earning the Order of the Arrow for his leadership and service. His passion for cooking and entertaining kept their home filled with a multitude of family, friends, and fond memories. A Loving husband, a devoted dad, a faithful friend, if you knew David, you know the world has lost a good man.
