Ball, Gardner help Tar Heels win another titleFormer East Chapel Hill standout Caitlin Ball says the Tar Heels are ecstatic after winning UNC’s 21st NCAA championship in women’s soccer last weekend with a 4-1 win over Penn State.
Ball, who walked onto the Carolina team after graduating from East Chapel Hill, started at center back along side former Wildcat teammate Hanna Gardner for the Tar Heels in the NCAA championship final Sunday in San Diego. Now a UNC sophomore, Ball played all 90 minutes of the final. Gardner started at defender as well.
“We were all just ecstatic,” said Ball.
Youth Hoops Basketball Clinics coming upThe winter 2013 Youth Hoops basketball clinics at Woods Charter are open for enrollment. The clinics are designed for boys and girls of all skill levels, ages 6-15.
A three-day Christmas basketball camp is being offered Dec. 26-28. An "Offensive Moves" skills camp starts Jan. 6.

Duronio at KenyonPast Chapel Hill High School MVP Joey Duronio is swimming this year for Kenyon College. Duronio was Chapel Hill’s 2009 Rookie of the Year and the Carolina-6 Conference’s male swimmer of the year 2011-2012. He also swam with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA team for six years and with the Summer League three-time champion Exchange-Sunset Creek Cyclones for eight years.
