Ball, Gardner help Tar Heels win another title

Former East Chapel Hill standout Caitlin Ball says the Tar Heels are ecstatic after winning UNC’s 21st NCAA championship in women’s soccer last weekend with a 4-1 win over Penn State.

Ball, who walked onto the Carolina team after graduating from East Chapel Hill, started at center back along side former Wildcat teammate Hanna Gardner for the Tar Heels in the NCAA championship final Sunday in San Diego. Now a UNC sophomore, Ball played all 90 minutes of the final. Gardner started at defender as well.

“We were all just ecstatic,” said Ball.
