MYSA players advance in ODP selections
Several Mebane Youth Soccer Association players recently made it to the December pool for the N.C. Youth Soccer Association’s Olympic Development Program.
Previously, three MYSA players who made it to the June 2012 ODP sub-regional event with squads from Pennsylvania and Georgia.
As the U.S. Youth Soccer web site says it, the ODP was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition."

.Baskir earns regional cross-country honors
Former East Chapel Hill state champion Carolyn Baskir was one of four Duke runners to earn all-South recognition during the NCAA cross-country season. Baskir finished 12th at the NCAA Southeast Region Championship on Nov. 9 at McAlpine Creek Park in Matthews.
As a runner at East Chapel Hill, Baskir won the NCHSAA 1,600-meters outdoor championship in 2009 and finished second in the NCHSAA ccross-country championships as a senior.
She transferred to Duke after her freshman year at Bowdoin College and last spring earned Outdoor All-East honors (1,500 meters) and a place on the ACC Academic Honor Roll.Chapel Hill hoops playoffs get underway
Fortress Fencing wrapped up an undefeated season in the Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Adult Basketball at 11-0 and entered the post-season tournament as its No. 1 seed. In last week’s opening round, Fortress Fencing defeated the No. 8-seeded Walk Ons 88-49.
No. 2 seeded Swing It (8-3) downed No. 7 Rho 63-36, while No. 3 Liquor & Lumber (8-3) was upset 50-47 by No. 6-seeded Blue Steel (4-7), and No. 4 Lockdown (6-5) took a forfeit win from Legen Wait For It Dary (4-7). Staff writer W.E. Warnock
