Editors note: The Chapel Hill News received a spontaneous flurry of poems after the Newtown, Conn., shootings. AdamGrowing gigantic inside of me
Of what to do, of what to be
People will say hate ruled my soul
But how on earth were they to know
That hate took flight years and years ago
From whence did it come, where did it go
I only know it flew away
Leaving me vacant at a lose to say
Why I walked for years downcast
Eyes to the floor on my way to class
Why I could not look up and smile
To connect with a classmate for awhile
Why I could not lend an ear
To a fellow student lost in fear
Why I could not look up and shout
I am love what are you about
It isnt easy when you are me
The world is not for the heart to see
Aye, the world is wide, full of Gods love
But I like an eagle soar above
I soar above omniscient, still
Ready to strike, eager to kill
Nothing can stop me, this I know
Nothing can hurt me, this Ill show
It took many a year to disappear
Behind this holy wall of fear
But disappear I have indeed
Now there is only one song to heed
One song to show the whole worldwide
What really makes me tick inside
What grows gigantic inside of me
Of what to do, of what to be
