YMCA opens spring sports, camp registrationThe YMCA has opened registration for its popular youth programs’ spring seasons and day camp.
Sports programs include YMCA soccer for boys and girls (age 3 up through sixth grade) at Homestead Park and volleyball (grades 4-8) at the YMCA’s Martin Luther King Location.
Registration opens Monday for the Y Day Camp.
The CHYDC is a day camp for rising first- through eighth-graders, with an active focus on a wide range of sports and team-based games. Weekly sessions will run June 10-Aug. 16 at the main Y branch.

Richburg earns honors from USA South ConferenceOrange High grad Bianca Richburg has been named the USA South Conference’s female basketball player of the week for the second time in three weeks. She averaged a double-double of 28.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per contest in three recent games for Greensboro College. The 5-11 GC junior also added 1.7 blocks and 1.0 assists per game.
In a 69-58 loss to Methodist, Richburg notched a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds. She added three blocks and two assists in the defeat. In a 65-53 loss at Christopher Newport, Richburg tallied a double-double of 24 points and 17 rebounds. She also added two blocks and one steal in the defeat. Finally, in a 69-65 win at N.C. Wesleyan, Richburg totaled 37 points, nine rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Orange County getting ready for Senior GamesFriday is the deadline for “early bird” registration to take part in Orange County’s 2013 Senior Games,
The Games and affiliated Silver Arts events for ages 55 and up will take place from March 23 through May 15.
Final registration ends March 8. Registration forms are available at the Orange County senior centers and recreation facilities throughout the county and in the towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
The Silver Arts, a juried art show held at the Seymour Center, will begin on April 8. The registration deadline for this event is March 15.
