Chapel Hill High School won a coin flip last weekend to make the Tigers the No. 1 seed in this week's Carolina-6 basketball tournament. That means Chapel Hill will be the host for all its games — as long as it keeps winning.

Friday's finals will be held at the home court of the highest-seeded boys' team left in the tournament. It the Chapel Hill boys win their semifinal game, then CHHS will host the girls' final at 6 p.m. Friday and the boys' final at 8 p.m.

Wednesday, Chapel Hill will host a semifinal double-header, with the girls playing either Northern Vance or Webb at 6 p.m. and the boys playing either Northern Vance or Orange at 7:30 p.m.

Elsewhere, Orange will be the first local team into action this week. The Panthers will host Northern Vance at 6 p.m. Monday in a Carolina-6 first-round boys game, while the girls will play at Southern Vance at the same time.

Carrboro's girls also will play at 6 p.m. Monday, hosting Durham School of the Arts in a first-round game in the Carolina-12. Carrboro's boys, who went undefeated in the Carolina-12 this season, have a first-round bye, as do the Chapel Hill boys and girls teams in the Carolina-6.

East Chapel Hill goes into action Tuesday in the PAC-6 tournament. East's girls play at Durham Jordan at 6 p.m., and the East boys play at Hillside at 7:30 p.m.

The PAC-6 semifinals are Wednesday for the girls and Thursday for the boys — both sets scheduled to be hosted by Northern Durham. If East wins Tuesday, the girls would face either Riverside or Northern at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, and the boys would play either Southern or Northern Durham at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The PAC-6 finals also will be played at Northern Durham. The girls' championship is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Friday, with the boys' championship to follow at 8 p.m. Friday.
