HILLSBOROUGH - Re-enactors braved snow and freezing temperatures to recreate life in a British camp during Hillsborough’s annual Revolutionary War Living History Day on Saturday.
In these photos Curt Cole of Duplin County, a private in the 64th Regiment of Foot, dons a heavy coat during the re-enactment of Lord General Charles Cornwallis’ occupation of North Carolina’s colonial capital in February 1781.
“I was drawn to reenacting over 16 years ago by a love of history and all things old; the best way to experience something is by doing so firsthand,” he says. “I started doing British a couple years ago through mutual friends. We do Civil War, colonial militia, and pirate time periods together.”
