CARRBORO - The Town of Carrboro WISE (Worthwhile Investments Save Energy) energy efficiency upgrade program is coming to a close.
Single-family property owners in Carrboro must apply by March 15 to be eligible for WISE incentives. Only weeks remain to submit an application, however with the current high demand and limited funds the program could come to a close sooner.
“As we move into spring, it is a great time to improve the energy efficiency of your home before the heat of the summer” said Mark Kuykendall, Carrboro WISE program manager. “The Carrboro WISE program helps you understand the most effective upgrades for your home and while funds last provides an incentive to make it more affordable”.
WISE participants can receive up to $2,000 for a comprehensive energy assessment and home energy upgrades. These upgrades may range from increased attic insulation to installation of high efficiency HVAC equipment. Combine this with Duke Energy and PSNC incentives and the federal tax credit and homeowners could receive more than $3,000 for saving energy in their homes.
“Around here hot humid days mean increased energy use and higher utility costs,” Kuykendall added. “Adding insulation and air sealing in your home can make all the difference to a home’s performance and comfort all year round. The WISE program expert advice and incentives simply make the investment easier and more accessible for Carrboro residents. ”
