CHAPEL HILL - The Orange County Board of County Commissioners will will hear a presentation regarding the future home of the Orange County Southern Branch Library at its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Southern Human Services Building in Chapel Hill.

The Carrboro Board of Aldermen selected three potential properties in December for the county’s consideration based on a county-approved set of guiding principles and site-selection criteria. The sites are all located in the Carrboro area: 301 W. Main Street, 401 Fidelity St. and 1228 Hillsborough Road.

Orange County staff recently completed the first phase of a two-part technical review component of the site-selection process. Phase I of the review, to be presented Tuesday, focuses on technical considerations for the site, including location, land-use requirements, site constraints, access, and general cost considerations.

Also Tuesday:

• The commissioners will recognize Carol Woods, during Special Presentations. The retirement community has been a fixture in Orange County for more than 30 years. Situated on 120 acres, Carol Woods is an accredited, not-for-profit continuing care facility that attracts active, independent retirees from across the country.

• The commissioners will get an overview of a new partnership between the county and the Triangle Community Foundation launching the first-ever Orange County Community Giving Fund. This is a framework for receiving a variety of donations that can be given to any Orange County department or County-sponsored activity. The commissioners will also be presented with the official marketing materials that will be used to promote the fund.

The Southern Human Services Building is located at 2501Homestead Road in Chapel Hill.
