Tomomi Okubo and Michael John Stamm were married in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, on June 14, 2013. The bride is the daughter of Mr. Tatsuya and Mrs. Hiroko Okubo of Chiba, Japan and the granddaughter of Gen Okubo and the late Kazuo Okubo, and Saburo and Takeko Ishigami. The groom is the son of Drs. John and Carol Stamm of Chapel Hill, NC. He is the grandson of the late Helmuth and Gerda Stamm of Nanaimo, BC, and the late John and Barbara Hays of Edmonton, Alberta.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. The maid of honor was Fumiko Okubo, of Paris, France, sister of the bride. The best man was Eric Stamm of Chapel Hill, brother of the groom.
The bride is a graduate of Bunka Fashion College and Parsons The New School for Design, where she received an Associate’s degree in Fashion Design. She is employed by Ralph Lauren in New York City. The groom is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and Communication, and California Institute of the Arts, where he studied Directing for Film and Theater. He is employed by Dow Jones & Company. Following a honeymoon on the island of Hawaii, the couple will reside in Brooklyn, New York.
