Rosemary A. Walsh

Rosemary A. Walsh, 90, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, died July 13, 2013, at the Brookdale Senior Living Facility - Wynwood of Chapel Hill after a brief illness. She was born on January 23, 1923 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of Lawrence & Julia Tursi. She graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1944; and served in World War II in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp from March 1945 through September 1946. She served in the Pacific Theater as a 1st Lieutenant, and spent 1-year in Okinawa, Japan. She received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal & the Army of Occupation Medal. She married Bernard A. Walsh of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy, in November 30, 1946. She was a Registered Nurse at Henry Heywood Memorial Hospital, Gardner, Massachusetts from 1950-1979 and Margaret Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, North Carolina from 1981-1986.

She is survived by her three sons, Greg and, wife, Paulette of Hubbardston, Massachusetts; Steve and, wife, Jeannie of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and Larry and, wife, Holly of Gardner, Massachusetts; as well as five grandchildren, Tim and Corinna Blair of Hollis, Maine; Jeff and, wife, Gigi of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; Eric and, wife, Missy of Westminster, Massachusetts; Katie and Dan Cartagena of Tampa, Florida; and Chris Walsh of Gardner, Massachusetts, as well as two great grandchildren, Kekai and Koa Walsh of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.
