Carrboro Farmers Market

The Carrboro Farmers Market is open from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and will host the Food Truck Rodeo from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. at 301 West Main St. Proceeds of 10 percent from the Food Truck Rodeo will benefit Transplanting Traditions Community Farm.

Unlocking Social Security

The Broadview Group of Morgan Stanley Smith will present “Unlocking Social Security: Securing Your Retirement” at noon in the Vista Room of Washington Duke Inn, 3001 Cameron Blvd. This program will teach people approaching retirement how Social Security benefits work for them.

Animal adoption event

The Chatham County Animal Shelter will host its first adoption event from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 725 County Landfill Road, Pittsboro. The shelter will reduce all adoption fees to $20 for the day.

Painted Chair and More Auction

Independent Animal Rescue will host its 11th annual Painted Chair and More Auction from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday, July 27, at the American Legion Hall, 1714 Legion Road in Chapel Hill. The organization, which has headquarters in Durham, will have silent and live auctions for painted furniture and pieces by local artists to support animals’ spaying/neutering, foster care and adoption.
