Police seek gunman in Chapel Hill convenience store robbery

Chapel Hill police are seeking this suspect in an armed robbery Sunday at the Wilco-Hess at 1213 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.


— The Chapel Hill Police Department is seeking information related to an armed robbery Sunday at the Wilco-Hess at 1213 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

A suspect entered the store at about 1:30 a.m., pointed a small silver revolver at the clerk, and took money from the cash register.

The suspect was described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall, of medium build and medium complexion, clean shaven, wearing dark pants, a pink hoodie and a white baseball cap with a silver sticker on the bill. The pink hoodie had “PEACE” in large letters above “College” in smaller letters underneath.

Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous, and the caller may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000 for information that leads to arrest.
