    • Orange County Animal Services and Kidzu Children’s Museum provide activities for kids in August. Visitors to Kidzu Children’s Museum will be able to make animal-themed art every Saturday of August to be displayed at the Orange County Animal Services Center in September.

    • The Swim for Smiles Foundation will host the Swim for Smiles Youth Triathlon on Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Briar Chapel neighborhood in Chapel Hill. Proceeds will benefit the N.C. Children’s Hospital. For details, go to Register at

    • Chapel Hill High School will host its second annual Tiger CHill carnival on Saturday, Sept. 21. The school’s clubs, bands, sports teams and student government will provide food, games and activities for families. The event will raise funds for the school’s clubs, sports and arts.

Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro will hold the Healin’ With A Feelin’: A Night of Burnin’ Love benefit for N.C. Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Health Care at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. There will be a live auction and music by Rebecca and the Hi-Tones, The BilliTones, the Willie Painter Band and the South Wing Band.
