Chapel Hill police investigate shooting

From Staff ReportsSeptember 24, 2013

— Chapel Hill police were investigating a shooting early Tuesday at a house on Pope Road near Interstate 40 in the Durham County portion of the town.

A man was wounded in the hand and abdomen, but the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police spokesman Sgt. Bryan Walker said.

Police were looking for a white sedan that was seen leaving the area, but they disclosed no other information about suspects.

EMS workers took the man to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Police did not release his name.

The incident happened at 4304 Pope Road about 5:30 a.m., officials said.

Records show police were called to the same address Sept. 25, 2012, in response to “an encounter with an individual,” according to an incident report. Walker said he did not have any information about that call or whether it was related to the Tuesday’s shooting.
