Celebrate Fresh Roots Saturday in Hillsborough

— Fresh Roots, the daylong music, arts, and food celebration in historic downtown Hillsborough has added Yep Roc’s Jonah Tolchin to its performance lineup this Saturday.

Festival attendees will be able to enjoy a beer and wine garden, compliments of Mystery Brewing and Hillsborough Wine Company, and some of the area’s most popular food trucks.

Fresh Roots marks the Hillsborough community’s kickoff to autumn and is organized by Downtown Merchants of Historic Hillsborough and Yep Roc records. Here is the day’s schedule:

• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Fun activities for children at the Eno River Farmers Market and on the Courthouse lawn; kid-friendly food truck offerings.

• 2 to 6 p.m. – Music on the Courthouse lawn. Kim Richey, Josh Rouse, Jonah Tolchin; beer and wine garden, food trucks.

• 6 p.m. until – Fresh Roots After Party at Billsborough Music Hall, featuring The Skipperdees.

• All day – Shop and restaurant specials throughout Hillsborough; Westoberfest at The Depot.

Many other events are also happening this weekend, such as the Hillsborough Arts Council Last Fridays and the seventh annual Historic Speedway Group “Celebration of the Automobile” Racers Reunion & Car Show Car.
