Robot stars in ‘Uncanny Valley,’ premiering Saturday at UNC

“The Uncanny Valley” stars a robot as one of two lead actors and premieres Saturday, Oct. 5 in the Black Box Theater of Swain Hall on UNC’s campus.

“The Uncanny Valley,” starring a robot as one of two lead actors, premieres Saturday, Oct. 5 in the Black Box Theater of Swain Hall on UNC’s campus.

In exchange for wealth, sex and a clean slate, Edwin agrees to have his mind uploaded to a robot programmed to mirror the human mind. The play follows Edwin as his contractual obligations begin to outweigh the compensation he receives.

Show times are 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct 5; 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct., 6; 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 through Saturday, Oct. 12; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13.

Tickets are available by calling 919-962-1449, through Etix.com (search “Uncanny Valley”), or at the Carolina Student Union Box Office.

Advance tickets are $5 for students, $10 for general admission. Tickets may also be purchased with cash or check at the door: $8 for students, $12 for general admission.
