Charles H. "Chuck" James

October 23, 2013

Charles H. "Chuck" James, 74, lost his seven month battle with cancer of the right frontal lobe (glioblastoma) on October 14, 2013 in Chapel Hill.. He had surgery as well as radiation, none of which increased his quality of life.

Chuck had a long and rewarding carreer in the biology department of Davidson County Community College, Lexington, N.C. His passion was plants and he loved his succssion of German Schnauzer pups. He graduated from the University of North Carolina, did graduate work at Duke and State, but he was blue through and through.

Those who will find life very difficult without him include his wife of 37 very sweet years, Betty, and his daughters Libby Cheek and Becky James. Surviving also are Libby's husband Tony, Betty's son's Shay (Linda) and Scott Reyner, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He saw value in donations to: CaringBridge Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 6032, Albert Lea, Mn. 56007, UNC Athletic Department, Tennis, PO Box 2126, Chapel Hill N.C. 27514, North Carolina Botanical Garden, Herbarium, Campus Box 3375, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-3375.

A time for remembrance will be decided upon within the month. If you would like to be a part, contact a family member.
