Ginger Blakeley

Ginger Blakeley passed away early Saturday morning at her home in Arcadia. Ginger was born in Springfield Illinois to Elmer and Glendora Blakeley. She was married to Giles Blunden and has lived in Chapel Hill / Carrborro for the last 35 years.

Ginger had a Masters degree in special education from the University of Illinois. She started and operated G Blakeley Artist Supplies in Carr Mill Mall. She later purchased and operated the Whistle Stop in University Square.

Ginger was predeceased in death by her father Elmer Blakeley. She leaves behind her husband Giles Blunden of Carrboro, her Mother Glendora Van Etten Blakeley of Petersburg Illinois, a sister Brenda Krause of Easton Illinois, a stepson Brent Blunden and his wife Phoebe Dee of Chapel Hill, a stepdaughter Jessica Blunden and her husband Hilawe Semunegus of Asheville. She also has five grandchildren, Hanna, Megan and Bleeker of Chapel Hill and Leah and Helina of Asheville.
