Will Hugh Swaso let impending fatherhood turn down the funk? Don’t bet on it.

Skinny Bag of Sugar to the rescue!

Just when you thought you were sick of live shows, tired of listening to long droning songs written by twerps … comes the return of hard, funky music.

They rock, they funk, they roll. They have played a lot of dates in Raleigh of late, but they’re returning Friday for another show at Carrboro’s 2nd Wind.

Hugh Swaso is the band’s kicking soul. A wild electric guitarist and full-energy singer, he leads the band through soul classics and originals.

Now fatherhood is on the way soon for Swaso, and he’s recently cut his hair. Can a new marriage and family slow him down?

In September he, Lance Ashley and Chris Davis were the guests of radio shock jockeys Valarie Schwartz and Jackie Helvey for the “Wac Stern Show” live at Carrboro’s WCOM 103.5 FM.

Swaso discussed his upcoming fatherhood and doffed his cap to show his new ’do, sans dreadlocks. He played an acoustic guitar for “Take Me With You,” a song he wrote for his new wife, Christy.

The song was a little more Jewel than John Legend, but nobody’s doubting Swaso’s ability to rock and roll. This is a show that’s sure to be loud.

When: Friday, 10 p.m.

Where: 2nd Wind, 118 E. Main St., Carrboro

Tickets: Free
