    • Freedom House Recovery Center will host a seminar on laws about special education from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at 102 New Stateside Drive, Chapel Hill. Jane Wettach, Director of the Children’s Law Clinic at Duke University Law School, will teach parents of kids with special needs or disabilities to advocate for their children. Register by Thursday, Jan. 9.

    • Durham will host a landlord training workshop from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at the City of Durham Neighborhood Improvement Services Department’s Main Conference Room, 807 E. Main St., Suite 2-300. Register for $10 by Monday, Jan. 13.

    • Durham’s Human Relations Award Ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, in the Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville St., Durham. Nominate Durham residents for awards by Wednesday, Jan. 22.

    • The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Minority Health Conference will be Friday, Feb. 28, at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education, 100 Friday Center Drive, Chapel Hill. Registration costs $30 for seniors and students of any college or university, $70 for university faculty and staff, $50 for government employees and $80 for anyone else. Register by Friday, Feb. 14.

Durham Parks and Recreation will host free classes and demonstrations during Fun Fitness Week. Classes will be at these locations through Sunday, Jan. 12:
