Durham

• Help pack bags of food for seniors any day Monday through Thursday during the workday at the Durham Center for Senior Life, 406 Rigsbee Ave. #202, Durham. Food and bags are provided. Call 919-688-8247.

• Would you like to encourage youngsters to get involved in music on MLK Day? Help MusicianCorps with a Musical Petting Zoo from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20 at Northgate Mall, 1058 W. Club Blvd., Durham. Visit www.MusicianCorps.org.

• Want to serve on MLK Day? The Emily K Center needs help painting classrooms, maintenance and landscaping, from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 20, at 904 W. Chapel Hill St., Durham. Call 919-680-0308.

• Collect and donate books to help Book Harvest collect 10,000 on MLK Day of Service.

• Help improve the English of Hispanic neighbors at Pilgrims UCC on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9 p.m. each week. Materials and childcare are provided.

• The Veggie Van works to deliver fresh, locally-grown produce to people who have limited access to these products. Volunteers are needed for the van sites at Durham Tech, DC Health Dept., and the Piedmont Health Services.

Chapel Hill

• Are you a knitter? Help knit Care Shawls for Duke HomeCare & Hospice from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Chapel Hill Bible Church, 260 Erwin Road, Chapel Hill. Call 919-408-0310.

• Girls Rock NC needs help with its After School program and at its events. The organization is celebrating its tenth anniversary with ten special concerts.
