Basketball clinic Sunday

The Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department will host a basketball instructional clinic, focusing on ball-handling, on Sunday, Jan. 26. Age groupings are 6-8 and 9-10. The fee is $15 per person. For additional information, please contact the Recreation Department at 919-918-7364.

Carrboro seeks volunteer coaches

The Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department is currently accepting volunteer coach’s applications for the 2014 Youth Baseball (ages 6-15) and Girls Volleyball (ages 10-13) programs.

Coaches should be able to organize practices and communicate effectively with young players, parents, and Recreation Department staff. They also will be responsible for teaching proper playing skills, fundamentals and sportsmanship, and for providing an enjoyable atmosphere at practices and games. Spring Baseball

The Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department will host two baseball leagues this spring: Youth Baseball for participants 6-12 years old and Middle School Baseball for ages 13-15. Ages are counted as of Aug. 31, 2013.

The fee for either is $60 for Orange County residents, $97.82 for others. Registration forms must be signed by a parent/guardian and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served.

Spring in Chapel Hill

Girls Volleyball

CLASS Baseball and Basketball

The Carrboro Recreation & Parks Department is organizing a C.L.A.S.S. (Children Learning Athletic Sports Skills) for baseball and basketball, aimed at kids 4 to 6 years old and their parents. The goal of C.L.A.S.S. program is to introduce the fundamentals of a sport to the participant and parent. Parent participation is a major part of this program. The cost is $47 per child.

• Basketball C.L.A.S.S. will be held 10-11 a.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 1-22.

• Baseball C.L.A.S.S. will be held on 9-10 a.m. Saturdays from April 5 to May 17.
