— Challengers Tom Carr and Rosa Williams, and the two incumbents Donna Coffey and Brenda Stephens beat challengers Michael Hood and Greg Andrews for Orange County Schools Board of Education seats on Tuesday.

Newcomers Carr, a retired school counselor, said his main focus is to be an advocate for teachers. Williams, a grandmother, said she will make closing the achievement gap her goal, as will Coffey and Stephens.

The school board race is nonpartisan, which means it will not appear on the November general election ballot.
