The Chapel Hill News, Chapel Hill and Carrboro’s hometown newspaper, has been published continuously in southern Orange County since 1923. The Chapel Hill News is owned by The News & Observer, which also owns The Cary News, Clayton News-Star,The Durham News, Eastern Wake News, Garner-Cleveland Record, The Herald, Midtown Raleigh News, North Raleigh News and the Southwest Wake News.
The newspaper is published twice weekly, on Sundays and Wednesdays. It is distributed to 25,700 households on Wednesday and 28,000 households on Sunday. Subscribers of The News & Observer receive it in their N&O. Non-subscribers in single family homes also receive The Chapel Hill News via carrier-delivery. Mail subscriptions are available at $175 a year.
The newspaper also is available online at www.chapelhillnews.com.
The Chapel Hill News provides local news coverage and features that showcase the distinctiveness of the area's history, people, places and activities. It also serves as a platform for local voices through a large number of locally written columns and through a lively exchange of opinion in letters and columns on the editorial pages. The Sports pages provide focused coverage of local prep and recreational sports. The Chapel Hill News has been recognized by the North Carolina Press Association for its outstanding news coverage.
