The Chapel Hill Police Department will hold its inaugural Guardians of the Hill 5k at 9 a.m. June 15 at Southern Community Park in Southern Village. Registration is $20 per person and $30 per family until May 15; $5 will be added after May 15. Proceeds will benefit Special Olympics of North Carolina. chpd.us.

The Goathouse Refuge will hold its annual fundraiser at 1:30 p.m. May 19 in the garden at Goathouse Refuge, 680 Alton Alston Road, Pittsboro. In addition to a multi-course Mediterranean-themed meal by chef and sculptor Siglinda Scarpa, a raffle for one of her clay cooking pots will be held. The Orange County Solid Waste Management Department will sponsor a ReUse Rodeo Student Move-out Week from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday, May 10, at the Hargrave’s Center Mitchell Lane parking lot. Local nonprofits will be accepting materials.
