Digg it- Three Chapel Hill residents received bachelor's degrees during commencement ceremonies May 11 at Virginia Tech University. They are Parker Cains, Elizabeth Fowler and Cameron Nouri.
- Casey Shumate Samulski of Chapel Hill received a bachelor's degree from Sarah Lawrence College during commencement ceremonies May 18 in Bronxville, N.Y. She is the daughter of Carol Shumate and Edward Samulski. She interned with U.S. Rep. David Price during the first summer session of 2006 and was a delegate to the Japan-American Student Conference in July 2006
- Akita Jones of Carrboro was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Winston-Salem State University.
- Robert Hale of Chapel Hill received a law degree from Loyola University during commencement ceremonies May 11 in New Orleans. He graduated cum laude.
- Megan Cloutier of Chapel Hill was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Emory College in Atlanta. She is the daughter of Alfred J. and Kay K. Cloutier. To make the list a student must be in the top 20 percent of Emory College or have a grade-point average of 3.853 or higher.
- Melissa Golding of Chapel Hill was named to the honor roll for the spring semester at St. Mary's School in Raleigh. She is the daughter of Toni Valakas and Tom Golding. To make the list a student must maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher in at least four academic courses while in good standing with the faculty and judicial board.
- Tetyana McCain, daughter of Grover and Elena McCain of Chapel Hill, has graduated from St. Margaret's School in Tappahannock, Va. She served as a dormitory prefect and peer leader to younger students, participated in dance, played on the JV volleyball team and was a member of the National Honor Society. She will attend Juniata College in the fall.
- Meghan E. Donohue of Chapel Hill received an associate of applied science degree from The Art Institute of Charlotte on June 15.
- Marissa Wolff of Chapel Hill was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va. The list recognizes students who have achieved superior quality in their academic work.
- Kim Purcell of Chapel Hill was named to the honor roll for the spring semester at St. Mary's School in Raleigh. She is the daughter of Micky and David Purcell. To make the list a student must maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher in at least four academic courses while in good standing with the faculty and judicial board.
- Kaelin B. Alexander of Chapel Hill received a bachelor's degree from Kenyon College during commencement ceremonies May 20 in Gambier, Ohio. He is the son of Janice and Dale Alexander. He graduated magna cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, a national collegiate honor society.
- Elizabeth Basmajian of Chapel Hill received a bachelor's degree from Emory University during commencement ceremonies on May 14 in Atlanta, Ga. She is the daughter of Daniel Basmajian and Pamela Kay Rhodes.
