  • Melissa Golding of Chapel Hill was named to the honor roll for the spring semester at St. Mary's School in Raleigh. She is the daughter of Toni Valakas and Tom Golding. To make the list a student must maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher in at least four academic courses while in good standing with the faculty and judicial board.
  • Tetyana McCain, daughter of Grover and Elena McCain of Chapel Hill, has graduated from St. Margaret's School in Tappahannock, Va. She served as a dormitory prefect and peer leader to younger students, participated in dance, played on the JV volleyball team and was a member of the National Honor Society. She will attend Juniata College in the fall.

  • Marissa Wolff of Chapel Hill was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va. The list recognizes students who have achieved superior quality in their academic work.

  • Kaelin B. Alexander of Chapel Hill received a bachelor's degree from Kenyon College during commencement ceremonies May 20 in Gambier, Ohio. He is the son of Janice and Dale Alexander. He graduated magna cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, a national collegiate honor society.
  • Elizabeth Basmajian of Chapel Hill received a bachelor's degree from Emory University during commencement ceremonies on May 14 in Atlanta, Ga. She is the daughter of Daniel Basmajian and Pamela Kay Rhodes.
