MALL SANTA -- Santa will be at University Mall in Chapel Hill through Dec. 24, Mondays through Fridays from 3 to 7 p.m.; Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.

HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE -- Harrington Bank in Southern Village will host a Holiday Open House with a visit from Santa today from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a procession to the Market Street Green for a holiday tree lighting. Free.

HOLIDAY BAND CONCERT -- The Chapel Hill High School ninth grade concert band, symphonic band and percussion band will present a Holiday Concert on Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Hanes Theater at CHHS. Free and open to the public. www.hanestheatre.org

A CHRISTMAS STORY-- Orange Community Players will present "A Christmas Story" Dec. 12-14 at Gravelly Hills Middle School. Performances are Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 13 at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8 adult and $6 children in advance, $10 and $8 at the door. 732-4476.

WINTER CONCERT -- The East Chapel Hill High School Choral Department will present its annual Winter Concert Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. day, December 12, 2008 in the school auditorium. Performances by the East Ensemble, Treble Ensemble, East Men, Concert Choir, Alley Cats, Chiefs of Staff and Show Choir, as well as guest instrumentalists including Anita Burroughs-Price, principal harpist with the North Carolina Symphony. Tickets are $5 at the door.

CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO PARADE -- The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Holiday Parade will be held Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. The route runs from East Franklin Street in Chapel Hill to West Main Street and the Town Commons in Carrboro. The Franklin Hotel, 311 W. Franklin St., will hold its second annual Holiday Parade Viewing Breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. For reservations call 422-4091 or see www.franklinhotelnc.com.

HOLIDAY HOUSE TOUR -- The Chapel Hill Holiday House Tour, "The New Treasures: Holiday House Tour," will be held Dec. 13 and 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 the day of the event. 942-7818, www.chapelhillpreservation.com.

FAMILY FUN DAY -- Southern Village will host a free Family Fun Day on the Market Street Green on Dec. 14 from noon to 4 p.m. Santa Claus will make an appearance at Coldwell Banker at 704 Market Street at 1 p.m. for free photos with children. Market Street Books, 610 Market Street, will have crafts activities.

HOLIDAY ORCHESTRA CONCERT -- The Chapel Hill High School orchestra will present a Holiday Concert on Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Hanes Theater at CHHS. Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for students under 18. www.hanestheatre.org

LUMINARY LIGHTING -- The Lighting of the Luminaries will be held on Dec. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fearrington Village. The Bluegrass Experience will perform and village shops will stay open late.
