A year-long arts project at Mary Scroggs Elementary School will culminate with a public performance on April 24 and an in-school show on April 25.

The performance, "Pangeo's Story," will present an allegorical folktale written by fifth-grade Scroggs students and writer Susie Wilde. The story is about a bird that wants to bring harmony to all the lands in the world, especially Venom Village, ruled by a cruel snake.

Textile artist Peg Gignoux worked with the fifth-graders to design and illustrate "Pangeo's Quilt," a three-paneled story quilt that surrounds the story's printed text with pictures that reveal characters and settings.

Dance specialist Melinda Abrams worked with third-graders to choreograph and rehearse "Pangeo's Dance," using sign language from the fifth-graders' story.

Music specialist Sheila Fleming has helped fourth-graders compose music and write "Pangeo's Song" for the show.

The public performance on April 24 will begin at 6:30 p.m. On April 25 at 10 a.m. the upper grades will perform for Scrogg's K-2 students.
