Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools has 11 seventh-graders who qualified for grand recognition in the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) this year.

To qualify for grand recognition, students must exceed a score of 650 on either math or verbal on the SAT or exceed a total score of 1260 on the SAT. The Culbreth student who qualified is Hyung Kwon Bae. The student from McDougle Middle who qualified is Anya Josephs. From Phillips the students who qualified are: Avi Aggarwal, Shreya Das, William Holubmoorman, Jason Ilieve and Daniel Liu. The students who qualified from Smith are: Michael Arneson, Jamie Chen, Abby Muller and Jean Ye.

There will be a ceremony to recognize the Duke TIP grand recognition students from across the nation on May 23 in Durham.

A total of 88 seventh-graders in the district took the SAT or ACT; of those, 53 qualified for state recognition in the Duke TIP program. To qualify at the state level, a student must earn a score that is greater than or equal to 510 on either the math or verbal portion of the SAT.

The Duke TIP program is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to being a national leader in identifying academically talented students and providing innovative programs to support their educational development. Expanded art show includes 2 receptions

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools will host its annual Visions Art Show at Lincoln Center, the district's administrative offices.

Two receptions will be held due to the large number of art work being displayed.

On Monday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. the reception will be for Glenwood, FPG, Rashkis and Seawell elementaries; Culbreth and Smith middle schools, Chapel Hill High and the PreK/Head Start Program.

On Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. the reception will be for Carrboro, Ephesus, Scroggs, Estes Hills and McDougle elementaries; McDougle and Phillips middle schools and East Chapel Hill High.

The Visions Art Show displays selected student art work from throughout the year.

The art will be on display in the hallways of Lincoln Center until May 16. The community is welcome to view the students' art during Lincoln Center's regular office hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
