Robert S. Edwards

Mary L. Pettiford of Roxboro announces the engagement of her daughter, Freda Pettiford, to Robert S. Edwards, son of Lucy and Robert Edwards of Carrboro.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Person High School and Piedmont Community College. She is a stylist with P&P Beauty Salon in Roxboro.

The groom-elect is a graduate of Chapel Hill High School and Montgomery College in Rockville, Md. He is an electronic assembler for CMP in Creedmoor.

The wedding ceremony is planned for March 21, 2009 at Union Grove Baptist Church in Hurdle Mills.

Patrick E.Granger

Lauren Elizabeth Dowdy and Patrick Ethan Granger were married Sept. 6, 2008 in Chapel Hill.

The Rev. Stephen Elkins-Williams officiated at the evening garden ceremony at the home of the groom's parents.

The bride is the daughter of Richard and Elaine Dowdy of Chapel Hill.

She graduated from East Chapel Hill High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a student at North Carolina State University. She is a civil designer with McKim and Creed, P.A., in Raleigh.

The groom is the son of Drs. Gene and Noelle Granger of Chapel Hill.

The groom graduated from East Chapel Hill High School. He is serving in the 2nd Battalion 1st Brigade Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, stationed at Fort Bragg.

Maid of Honor was Meg Barham of Raleigh.

Bridesmaid was Cameron Granger, sister of the groom, of Chapel Hill.

Best man was Sam Morgan of Chapel Hill.

Groomsman was Michael Staats of Wilmington.

Wedding music was provided by violin soloist Izabela Spiewak.

A dinner-dance reception was hosted by the parents following the ceremony with music provided by guitarist Eric Smallwood.

The couple will reside in Sanford.
