Little shop of horrors

The Carrboro High School Theater Department will perform the rock musical "Little Shop of Horrors" Thursday through Sunday in the Culbreth Middle School auditorium. The musical features a hapless florist shop owner and his ever-sprawling Venus Fly Trap, which happens to feedson human blood. Carrboro Theater Department students and parent volunteers have constructed four versions of Audrey, the larger-than-life talking and singing plant. The largest Audrey is so big that it commands most of the stage. The music, composed by Alan Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop, and early Motown, includes show-stoppin numbers including "Skid Row (Downtown)," "Somewhere That's Green" and "Suddenly, Seymour," as well as the title song. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday. For advance tickets, e-mail CHSreservations@gmail.com. For more information e-mail CHS Theater Teacher Brett Stegal at BStegall@chccs.k12.nc.us.
