Clydefest, the annual celebration of Bynum chainsaw artist Clyde Jones and his 'critters,' will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bynum Ballpark in Chatham County (off U.S. 15-501 just north of the Haw River). Music by Baron von Rumblebuss, Tommy Edwards & Friends, Jammin' Baby and NC Girls Rock. Food, games, children's activities and more. Emmy Award-winner Yannis Simonides will give a solo performance of Plato's 'The Apology of Socrates' Thursday and Friday at 8:15 p.m. in the Paul Green Theatre in the Center for Dramatic Art on the UNC campus. A question-and-answer session with Simonides will follow the performance. The play is a contemporary, humorous recount of Plato's defense while on trial for his life in Athens. THURSDAY-FRIDAY

Central Carolina Community College Theatre Students and Friends will present 'Kudzu, A Southern Musical,' a stage adaptation of Doug Marlette's comic strip, at Chatham Mills, 480 Hillsborough St., Pittsboro. Marlette collaborated with Jack Herrick and Bland Simpson to create the musical. Performances will be Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 3 p.m.; May 1 at 8 p.m.; May 2 at 8:30 p.m. and May 3 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 and are available at CCCC's Chatham County Campus, 764 West St., Pittsboro, by phone at 542-6495 or online at www.brownpapertickets.com.

Jane Holding will perform the one-woman play 'Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All,' a stage adaptation of Allan Gugranus' bestselling novel, Sunday at the Carolina Inn. She plays the indomitable Lucy Marsden in the play, a fundraiser for the Chapel Hill Historical Society. The event begins at 5 p.m. with a reception and refreshments in the Hill Ballroom, followed by the 75-minute performance. Reservations are $50. Call 929-1793.
