CHAPEL HILL -- The Stewards Fund of Raleigh is stepping up to help Habitat for Humanity of Orange County build more homes by awarding Habitat a $50,000 challenge grant.
Between now and Jan. 10, 2008, Habitat must raise $50,000 in gifts and pledges from supporters who have never donated to Habitat for Humanity of Orange County before in order to receive the challenge grant of $50,000 from The Stewards Fund.
"It costs Habitat about $4,000 in materials to build a roof. With this challenge grant, first-time supporters can literally put a roof over the heads of 25 families in our community," said Anne-Marie Vanaman, development director.
