A new museum dedicated to UNC basketball will open to the public on Jan. 28.

The Carolina Basketball Museum, an interactive museum, occupies neary 8,000 square feet on the first floor of the new Ernie Williamson Athletics Center. The center is on the UNC campus next to the Dean E. Smith Center and the Koury Natatorium.

Among the museum's features is "Game Day," in which visitors enter a theater for pre-game activities. The main museum space includes interactive displays and memorabilia from Carolina's storied program. "Month of March" rooms highlight the ACC and Carolina's NCAA Tournament successes.

Admission will be free.

The Ernie Williamson Athletics Center is named to honor Ernie Williamson, a former executive director of the Rams Club.
