The cost of Mark Ray's Epoch Solutions 55-gallon barrel including tax is $69.55: checks may be written to Epoch Solutions LLC. Each Rain Water Solutions 65-gallon barrel is $96 including tax. Checks may be written to Rain Water Solutions. Only cash and checks will be accepted. The town is no longer taking pre-orders for the rain barrel sale, but will have approximately 200 55-gallon rain barrels available on a first-come, first-serve basis, with precedence given to Chapel Hill residents, who pay a stormwater management fee. Unclaimed pre-ordered barrels will be sold to the next in line after 3 p.m. Sales will be limited to two per household until after 3 p.m. due to limited quantities available. The accompanying education fair will teach people about composting, watershed issues, rain gardens, waterwise landscaping, and how we can improve our water quality, maintain streamside buffers for clean water and healthy creeks, and prepare for hurricanes. Free low-flow showerheads will be given out by OWASA to their customers.
