CHAPEL HILL -- There's nothing funny about kids whose families can't afford summer camp, youth basketball or after-school programs.

So Zach Ward of DSI Comedy Theater in Carrboro has partnered with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA to help provide opportunities for needy kids and their families.

Ward, who owns and operates the DSI Comedy Theater, is donating $2 from every ticket sold for his troupe's 7:30 p.m. performances in April to the YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign.

Tickets can be purchased online by visiting the DSI Comedy Theater's Web site at www.dsicomedytheater.com.

The Strong Kids Campaign helps fund the YMCA's scholarship program for local youths and families.

"The partnership we have with DSI Comedy Theater is a perfect example of how local businesses are giving back by investing in the future leaders of our community," said Jerry Whortan, executive director of the YMCA.
