Twig, a new eco-friendly store on South Elliott Road next to Whole Foods Market, will launch its inaugural fundraising event for community-based nonprofits on Saturday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The event will include musical entertainment and door prizes. Whole Foods will provide refreshments, and several nonprofits will be on-hand to raise awareness of their work.

Twig will donate 20 percent of the proceeds to the nonprofits. Storeowner Shawn Slome said each customer will have the chance to name the nonprofit of choice at the time of purchase. Nonprofit partners include Piedmont Wildlife Center, the Audubon Society, Waldorf School, the Eno River Association, N.C. Museum of Life and Science and the Triangle Land Conservancy.

Twig focuses entirely on green, fairly traded and organic clothing, gifts, home goods, safe toys and baby gear.

Family medicine clinic opens

N.C. Family Medicine at Hillsborough, which offers primary care for the entire family, officially opened on May 1.

According to Allen Daugird, medical director and vice president of ambulatory care, the Hillsborough location will allow a broader range of people to receive care from a UNC Health Care practice.

"There continues to be significant growth in western and northern Orange County," Daugird said. "UNC Health Care wants to help meet the needs of that growing population, and this new primary care UNC practice is one way to do that. We are excited to be part of the Hillsborough community."

The new clinic, at 2201 Old N.C. 86, is staffed by Lauren Lingley, medical director; Kia Williams; and Paul Dunn, a family nurse practitioner. All are faculty members in the Department of Family Medicine in the UNC School of Medicine with admitting privileges at UNC Hospitals.

Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., by appointment. Special services include prenatal care (individual and group classes), colposcopy, skin procedures and diabetes testing and education.

To make an appointment, call (919) 732-2909. After hours, calls will be forwarded to UNC HealthLink at 966-3820, where trained nurses will answer questions and, when necessary, make referrals to an on-call physician.

Downtown group plans meeting

The Friends of Downtown will hold its monthly meeting on May 29 at 10 a.m. at The Franklin Hotel, 311 W. Franklin St.

Parking is available behind the hotel. The Friends of the Downtown meets on the last Thursday of each month with speakers sharing knowledge on many aspects of downtown Chapel Hill. Meetings are open to the public.

Local agency wins national honor again

Chapel Hill-based Koroberi Inc., a business-to-business (BtoB) integrated marketing agency, was selected for the second consecutive year as one of the top BtoB agencies in the nation by Crain's BtoB Magazine, a U.S. business-marketing publication.

BtoB Magazine's annual list recognizes the agencies in four categories: small, medium, large and interactive. Candidates were judged on criteria including creativity, demonstrated business growth and revenue.

Koroberi displayed consistent growth in 2007, becoming the agency of record for Hyster Americas, a manufacturer of lift trucks, and assuming the role of global marketing communications partner for Alimak Hek, a Stockholm, Sweden-based manufacturer of construction hoists, industrial elevators and other vertical access solutions.

"It's great to be recognized as a top agency for the second year in a row," said Kathryn Olive, Koroberi's president. "It validates our belief that helping our clients succeed is the best strategy for our own success."
