Mr. and Mrs. Myron D. Pickett of Chapel Hill and Mr. and Mrs. William F. Wall Jr. of Lenoir announce the engagement of their daughter Charlotte Caroline Frances Wall to Neal James Martelo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orlando J. Martelo of Plattsburgh, N.Y.

The bride-elect received a bachelor's degree in nursing from UNC-Chapel Hill and a master's degree in nursing from UNC-Greensboro. She is a certified registered nurse anesthetist in New York City.

The groom-elect received a bachelor's degree in history from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He is a senior account representative with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.

A wedding ceremony is planned for May 17 in Chapel Hill.
