Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Pakis of Paradise Valley, Ariz., announce the engagement of their daughter Courtney Elizabeth Pakis to Andrew Grady Sheldon of Chapel Hill.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and is an event planner in Raleigh.

The groom-elect is the son of Linda and James Shelton and is a graduate of East Chapel Hill High School and received a chemical engineering degree from Vanderbilt University. He is an MBA student at the Duke University Fuqua School of Business.

An October wedding is planned in Scottsdale, Ariz.
