CHAPEL HILL -- The Family Advocacy Network (FAN), a program of the Mental Health Association in Orange County (MHAOC), wants to start a readers' group for parents, caregivers and professionals who work with, or are raising, children and young adults suffering with emotional, behavioral and other mental health disorders. Books to be read by the group will cover genres of self-help, non-fiction and also works of fiction whose topics revolve around a mental health issue.

The first meeting is slated for Sept. 29, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Mental Health Association, 302 W. Weaver St., Carrboro. The group needs at least four participants to sustain and pre-registration is required. Contact Julie Bailey, Family Advocate, at 942-8083, ext. 2, or e-mail julie@mhaorangeco.org.
