Sara Saberi and Keith Eric Kocher were married June 27, 2009, at First United Methodist Church in Ann Arbor, Mich., followed by a traditional Persian ceremony (Aghd) at the Inn at St. John's in Plymouth, Mich. The Rev. Craig Kocher, brother of the groom, the Rev. Timothy Ziegler and Forough Moattari, aunt of the bride, officiated the ceremonies.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Mohammad Saberi and Dr. Zahra Moattari of Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich. She received a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and master's and medical degrees from Wayne State University. She is a cardiologist at University of Michigan.
The groom is the son of James and Sally Kocher of Chapel Hill. He received a bachelor's degree from UNC-Chapel Hill, master's degrees from University of Cambridge (England) and UNC-Chapel Hill and a medical degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. He is an emergency medicine physician at University of Michigan.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents.
Maid of honor was Sima Saberi, sister of the bride, of Ann Arbor, Mich.
Bridesmaids were Sakina Kadakia of Ann Arbor, Mich.; Somi Javaid of Mason, Ohio; and Abby Kocher of Durham.
Best man was Darrell Smith of Milwaukee, Wisc.
Groomsmen were Kip McCurdy of Knightdale; Will Alexander of Wake Forest; and Colin Greineder of Philadelphia, Pa.
A reception was hosted by the bride's parents at the Inn at St. Johns, Plymouth, Mich.
Music was provided by Dr. Naki Sung Kripfgans, organist.
The bride and groom are planning a warm, exotic, adventuresome getaway to briefly escape the cold of Michigan in January 2010.
The couple will live in Ann Arbor, Mich.
