Julia Anne Risk and William Anthony Hood exchanged wedding vows on May 9, 2009, at one o'clock in the afternoon. The ceremony in the ancient germanic tradition was held on the green at Spruce Pine lodge near Bahama. Leigh Stroud officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. John L. Risk of Pittsboro and Dr. Patricia L. Weigant of Carrboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. Richard Borden Risk and Mrs. Francis Langeland Risk and the late Mr. Dean Martin Weigant and Mrs. Dorothy Winifred Heins Weigant.
The groom is the son of Mr. Brad Hood of Four Oaks and Ms. Valeria Johnson of Casper, Wyo. He is the grandson of Mr. Ronald Cornella and Mrs. Eslyn Dolajack and the late Mr. Jack Hood and Mrs. Gwen Hood.
The maid of honor was Melissa Connolly of Raleigh. Bridesmaids were Sarah Mitchell of Raleigh; Kelly Stack of Chapel Hill; and Carly Trische of New York City. The flower girl was Melissa Wickes, cousin of the bride, of Goldsboro.
Best man was Mike Clayton of Raleigh. Groomsmen were Chris Schantz of Raleigh; Benjamin Davenport of Raleigh; and Gavin Stroud of Raleigh.
Julia attended East Chapel Hill High School. She attended the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., and graduated with bachelor of environmental design and bachelor of architecture degrees from North Carolina State University. She is employed at Isley-Hawkins architecture in Durham.
Tony attended South Johnston High School and is a senior at North Carolina Central University, where he is majoring in political science.
After a brief honeymoon in the North Carolina mountains, the couple resides in Durham.
